In November 1977 a modest courier company named Schaeffer Delivery was launched. The company handled small deliveries in the Dallas Metroplex and built a loyal customer base founded on trust and dependability. Even though the courier business was a great success, Jay Schaeffer had a vision for the future of his company.

After 13 years, Schaeffer Delivery evolved into A Truck Express Inc. The company quickly built and established a unique reputation, specializing in the handling of local hotshot bobtail and tractor-trailer deliveries in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
